Importer basic instructions for use

  • I have a client who built a website on WordPress.com and I am trying to move it another host. I am starting on the target site with a new, clean installation of an updated WordPress.

    The directions for using this plug-in don’t really cover much. So, I will ask some questions I would think would be useful in the FAQs.
    1) Does Importer install all the source site plug-ins or do I need to install the plug-ins on the target site first?

    2) Does Importer remove all previous content on the target site before importing? If not, do I need to delete all the original pages?

    3) Does Importer set up all the WordPress and theme settings on the target site? I am not customizations to the theme (background, banner image, etc).

  • I don’t think this is the plugin you need. More appropriate would be All-in-One WP Migration or Duplicator.
