• I installed WP 2.5.1 and planned to import my previous wp2.5 site into it. I exported the XML file and then imported it into the 2.5.1 installation. I checked the box for images too. As the import progressed, it seemed as if everything was going well but eventually I got a fatal error due to a timeout. NO problem, I just started the import again and all the already imported posts and images were passed over. This happend a few times. Then I went to the new site and discovered that all the posts were there and so were all the iamges, but the images were all being displayed from the URL to the original old site. What the?

Is this a bug? Did I do something wrong? Is there any “easy” fix for this? Any ideas?

  • Because in the posts the path/url to the images remains as it was in the original blog. That’s how it works. WP can not possibly know where your new blog is.

Get the “Search and replace” plugin and change the path in the image codes.

Well, I see your point to a certain extent but then again, if using the defaults, WP could make the assumption that all images would be in the uploads directory. So what is with the attachments option then in the import dialog?
