Importe Product + Categories ?

Hi there.
I want to import my products from one website to a brand new one.
The button to Export Products is easy to find and it seems to work fine.
But my question is what about categories ? Do I have to create them all before Importation or does Import will create them on the new website ?
I can’t find information on the documentation.Thanks for any help.

The import will create any new categories that it needs!

Just make sure you have the categories column formatted properly with the name of the category – NOT the slug. For example:
T-shirts, Hoodies, T-shirts > Ladies
Would give you 3 categories with the Ladies being a sub-category of T-shirts
If the category already exists, then the product will be added to that.

If you’ve included the Categories in the Export file, then these should be included in the import.

To check if you’ve included the Categories in the Export file, you can open the CSV and scroll (horizontally) until you see the Categories column:
