    Hi

I have a shortlink that I have published in a book to give access to downloadable templates – so there are thousands of hard copies with this link printed in them.

My developer has created a staging server. WordPress now thinks that staging server is the main site. The developer has created a redirect to my live site as a temporary measure, but how do I fix this properly?

Here is the link that is pointing to the staging server incorrectly:
    https://wp.me/p1H6XP-zD

Here is the correct target for the shortlink: https://madetomeasurekpis.com/downloads-for-kpi-checklists-book/

Here is the staging server that the link seems to be currently pointing to (but now has a temporary redirect to the correct page):
    https://mtmkt.ntprojects.co.uk/downloads-for-kpi-checklists-book/

    Two other things to note:

Submitting this ticket, I get this warning above this text entry box…

“This site may be a copy of WordPress with a different hosting service. Here’s the best way to find help with that. If you’re not sure though, please share your question with a link, and we’ll point you in the right direction!”

I have also lost my years of stats that were associated with the site.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Hi @trogg71

It seems that your site was pushed to staging from the production one, and this confused Jetpack thinking it was the same site, which is why the URL flipped to the staging one.

It’s usually documented on our end, but I don’t seem to find any mention that your site’s URL was altered because of a staging instance, did this happen just recently or a few weeks/months ago?

We can restore your stats after dealing with this; however, I’d highly suggest you start by enabling your XML-RPC for Jetpack to access it, as I can see that it’s currently being blocked by Cloudflare, you can reach out to them for more information about this,

I’d also appreciate it if you reached out to us privately here as we’ll need to take a closer look into this to get it sorted; please don’t forget to paste a link to this thread.
