I am migrating from one WordPress/WooCommerce site to another. I installed the user import/export plugin on both sites and performed an advanced export to the standard CSV file provided by the plugin on the source site. All default values were used excepted the batch size. I browsed the CSV to delete a handful of users and a spot check of the records showed all fields appeared correct. On the destination site, I performed the advanced import. No options were changed except batch size.

The import completed successfully. A review of all the users in the admin dashboard shows the user registration date accurately from 2020 to previous accurately but any user registered between 2021 and present shows a date of February 2, 3940 @ 08:00 pm. I retried the export and import using all the the same options as previously described, but this time setting the import option to update existing users instead of skipping them.

The import was successful, but now, ALL imported users have a user registration date of February 2, 3940 @ 08:00 pm. Any assistance to correct the user registration would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @reiddg,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

It seems like the issue might have occurred because the date format in the file might have got changed when you edited the file in your spreadsheet application.

Could you please share the CSV file with a few rows in it with which we can check the issue? Please make sure that you remove the user-sensitive data from the file before sharing. You can share it by uploading it to?Google?Drive?or WeTransfer or any similar service and sharing the link.

I sent you the link again but it expires on the 24th. Can you take a look at it before it expires again?

    TIA

I had originally replied in email to your last response with a new link to the export file. It doesn’t show up in this thread and the file has not yet been downloaded. These transfers have a 7-day time limit. I have uploaded the file again just now but if you could take a look at it in the next 7 days, I would greatly appreciate it. I need to get this issue resolved.

    Hi @reiddg,

Thanks for sharing the file again.

We tried importing your file on multiple test sites and noticed that the users from the CSV file were not imported with the incorrect registration date you mentioned (February 2, 394). However, we noticed an issue with the date format in the CSV file, which resulted in the registration date being added as “0000-00-00” for all imported users.

The problem arose from the date format in the CSV file, which was set as “mm/dd/yyyy”. For a successful import, please try using the date format “yyyy-mm-dd” in the CSV file.

Thank you for pointing this out. I performed the export again and when I opened the CSV file after export, the registration date field was in mm-dd-yyyy format. It wasn’t something I changed. I had performed the advanced export but didn’t change any parameters/mapped fields.

I changed the format of the field and after importing it, the registration date field was correct, so my issue has been resolved. However, another thing I noticed was during import, the plugin issued a message stating it had validated the input file. If the registration date field was in the wrong format, shouldn’t the validation have caught that and flagged it in order to prevent this issue?

Thank you for resolving my issue.

    Regards,
    Dennis

    Hi @reiddg,

We are happy to hear that the issue you were experiencing has been resolved now!

By default, the plugin exports the date in the format yyyy-mm-dd. However, when you open the file in your spreadsheet application, it might automatically change the date format. To verify if the date format is correct, we suggest doing a new export and trying to open it with a text editor or any other spreadsheet application like LibreOffice.

Currently, the plugin does not have the feature to validate the date format during the file upload process. If feasible, we will include the functionality to validate the date format in the next update of the plugin.
