Import tool does not import anything

  • I am running WP multisite on windows. I was given an exported xml file with blog data from a site on another wp server and want to import it to a new site on my sever. I go to the new site’s dashboard, choose tools –> import. It asks me to upload the file which I do. Then I click the submit button. It then says

    Import Blogger
    All Done Have fun

    I then go to pages for the site and nothing is imported. I checked in mysql as well and there is nothing in the wp_posts table for that blog id

    I would attach the import xml file but apparently this forum doesn’t support attachments so instead I’ve published it to a url: https://c.reapic1.com/wpblogexport.xml

  • Cannot see the file:

    error on line 1 at column 37: Unsupported encoding UTF-7

    Might be a problem with the encoding, and that’s why you cannot import the data?

    I don’t have any problem opening the xml using Chrome. I’ve added a compressed version in case you have trouble reading the xml directly: https://c.reapic1.com/wpexportblog.rar

    Also if the format is bad, why doesn’t blogger import report an error ?
