Hey, I have trouble importing products.
I have a shop with about 8.000 products and wanted to add shippingclasses.
Therefore I exported all my products with these terms: productnumber (or ID), name, categories, shippingclass.
For testing I deleted every product except of one (Product A). When I import my .csv data, I set the option “update products with same productnumber, skip others” and assign all needed fields.
On my first try, the import loaded a few hours and added me about 500 blank products, after I stopped the process. I was able to fix this and tried it again: the import works within seconds, but the import report tells me, that there are no products available for updating. The Product A is listed up with correct ID, name, category, shippingclass, but with the same error text.

I tried it a few times but there is always the same error: no products available for updating.

When I write this text I had an idea: is it necessary to set a seperator behind shippingclass “,” because of UTF8? It is the last term:
    productnumber 01234, productname A, category A, shippingclass A;;;

Ofcourse I could simply add shippingclasses in wordpress itself, but it is much easier for me to add them in a .csv data and it wouldn’t take hours.

Would be really great if you can help me. If you need more informations, just ask for it.
    Thanks a lot

    Update:

I actually found out, that I don’t need the productnumber for updating my products, but the ID. My language is german and the instructions refer to the “productnumber” which means almost the same as “ID”.
Well… my problem is not solved yet, I don’t know how, but the field “shippingclass” contains many semicolons “;;;;;” in the 2nd step of importing and I don’t know why. When there are semicolons, I can’t assign them properly to the shippingclass in wordpress and nothing happens with the loading-bar.
Also: the shippingclass does not be affected after updating…

    New Update:
I solved most of my problems:
I can not import .csv when categories are in it, because they are seperated by comma. at least I got it almost work with ID and Shippingclass only.
The last issue I don’t understand, are these semicolons in the 2nd part of import setup (split assignment).
Wordpress will load forever when there are semicolons in original-splits…
I never wrote any semicolon in my .csv data and really don’t know how I can fix this. I just realized, there is any context with space and “hidden” text.

Would still love to get help here

    Hi @mojo47

You can try to use a “pipe” instead like this: |
