Import of blog posts not working – why?

  • this is the error message I get:

    The folder D:\Hosting\6497459\html\wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08 could not be created.

    anyone any idea what’s wrong with my WP installation?

  • Please check whether the folder exists in your server or not.

    Just checked. No, the folder doesn’t exist. I manually created it and got the import process starting. but now WordPress cannot save the export-xtml file in the folder. i don’t get why!

    Most likely it is down to the permissions on the directory that the export file is being saved to. It would need to be writeable by whatever account runs the web services (which varies depending on your hosting provider)
