I exported the file off my old cPanel host using All-In-One and downloaded to my computer.
    It was a 44Mb file.
I then went to the new host and installed All-In-One plugin in the WP installation.
    I then uploaded the file.
Once the upload completed I got a dialog box with a rotating logo and the words “Preparing to import”
It has been stuck on that for an hour now.
    Is this normal?
How long will it take to complete?

    I’m having the same problem

I’ve had this issue a few times with this plugin. This happens when the version of the plugin that I exported the site from does not match the version of the plugin that I am importing to.

I’ve made it a best practice to update all plugins before migrating a site.

I have found that the files did transfer but the software did not know it had finished, so it kept the dialog box up.
The next thing I discovered was that not everything had come over, in spite of my leaving all options open.
Then, I found my themes and plugins did not transfer so I manually installed them all.
Then I tried to reload the file.
That worked but it locked me out of my own wp-admin. so I couldn’t get in.
I had to contact my hosting provider to go and change the .php for me.
All in all this is very buggy software and definitely NOT an All-In-One package.

@lochsloidh: It’s a petty that the plugin isn’t working as expected at the moment. I’m using AIOWPM for the previous six month almost on a daily base. Beside that free version I also use their extension for multisites. In my eyes AIOWPM is by far the best migration plugin for WordPress.

Unfortunately I also face an import issue at the moment. Not sure whether that’s a side effect of the recent WordPress 4.7 release or something else. But I’m sure someone from the AIOWPM team will clearify this.
