i’ll try to keep this as simple as possible.

    1. used WP backup to create the .sql file for transfer to another blog.

    2. at NEW blog’s Cpanel, i go to phpADMIN and import said .sql file into newly created mysql database

    3. it is imported correctly, but i notice that, looking at the Table List on left side, before the 10 tables listed is a table called “New”. looks like this, i took an image shot…

    4. i think it is because of this ‘file’ that my blog does not add the contents of the imported DB. DB transferred over but does not show up in my wp blog.

Question, how do i get rid of that NEW file? i really think that is the problem because when i type in my domain, it goes to the WP new install page…
    xxxxxx/wp-admin/install.php

    haaaaaaaaaalllllp please.

    alx :/

  • Question :

are you trying to move this database ie replace the existing one
or add the posts/pages from the old blog to the new database?

It looks like importing is creating the “new” area and dumping your sql content in there, not adding it to your existing wordpress database.

    hey robin,

    thanx for response.
i figured out what was wrong and it was because i walked away from the pc and took a looooong break to clear my head. it worked! turned out that it was my .htaccess file. i thought just deleting the parts in it that were related to some WP plugins that i also took out, would solve the problem… it didn’t. so anyway, i removed entire .htaccess file and put in an empty one and went through the backup process once again from the start. that did the trick.

great to hear, glad your sorted !
