    Hello There,

    Good day!

My site had about 500 Tablepress tables.

I exported all the files (HTML), edited all the files and seems like I can only import the file 1 by 1 to replace the specific table.

Wondering if there is an option to do bulk import and bulk replace the existing tables?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Bulk export (to a ZIP archive) is possible for all export formats.
Bulk import is possible, but not with replacing existing tables, I’m afraid.
Your best chance there is to use the JSON format, as that can actually import a table with an existing ID (all the other formats don’t store it internally). For that, you would need to delete the relevant tables first, and then do the import of the ZIP archive.

Thanks a lot for your swift reply, Tobias.

So meaning to say, I can download the all the table in Json format. make changes to the Json files. Delete all the tables within my existing wordpress site.

Then re-upload the Json format files all together again?

    Thanks again!

Could one of you (Raymond or Tobias) explain how to execute the bulk JSON import from a zip file? Specifically, in the ‘Add, Replace, or Append?:’ section, if I want to ‘Replace existing table’ or ‘Append rows to existing table’, what do I choose for ‘Table to replace or append to:’?

    Hi,

replacing and appending are not possible with the bulk import, you can only add the tables.
However, as the JSON format (that TablePress exports) contains the table IDs in its data, that table ID will be assigned to the imported data — if it’s currently unused.
So, the trick is to first delete all desired (to be imported) tables, and then do the bulk import of the JSON files, choosing to Add them as new tables.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Ah, I missed the part about deleting the tables first.

So it terms of doing a bulk delete, it would be best to have a naming convention for your table ID so that a ‘Bulk Actions’ -> ‘Delete’ can be done easily using ‘Search’ from the ‘All Tables’ tab.

    Hi,

you can change table IDs as desired on each table’s “Edit” screen (e.g. add a prefix like “mygroup-“, which you can then use in the search) already ??

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
