I was using Podpress before. When I installed PowerPress the Media file link somehow is still working. The site links the media file from another site. However, when I edit the post, the PowerPress Media URL field is blank. How do I get the old Podpress media URL link to fill in the PowerPress Media URL field? I am afraid of using the PowerPress import functions:

    Import settings from another plugin
    or
    Import Episodes from another plugin

Everything is working and I am afraid it will duplicate the posts if I import them. I just want the Media URL in PowerPress showing the link so I can change it if needed. Please advise.

    Hello @biblestudyradio,

You should see the PodPress meta data when you edit the post. It should show the episode box with an optional checkbox which you can check to then change the media URL. IF you do not see this then something is definitely wrong or perhaps you are editing the wrong post in question. A way to know for sure is to view your podcast feed in Firefox, click on the specific link to the episode from the feed, then from that link click the Edit option at the top of the browser to edit that post. If you modify the episode and click save, new episode information will be saved in the PowerPress (WordPress native enclosure + extra episode data) format.

When you do the podcast import option, it copies the data from PodPress format to PowerPress (WordPress native enclosure + extra episdoe data). As far as your site is concerned, if you have PowerPress plugin enabled, it will detect the powerpress settings and ignore the PodPress ones from that point. If there is no powerpress settings then it uses the PodPress previously saved ones. It does not interpret botth if that is the concern after importing.

The advantage to not doing the import is if you wanted to give PowerPress a test run first. You can do an episode or two as things sit now, and if you like how everything works then you can do the import and never worry about it. If you decide PowerPress is not for you, you can disable PowerPress and re-enable PodPress and everything is still there.

I have uninstalled the Podpress since installing PowerPress. I could not remember what I did because it was done years ago. I must have done some kind of migration. All the episodes were complete and media were still playing. I only look at the edit post now and don’t see the media URL and realize it’s missing there. But all episodes still plays correctly. I just can’t change it.

Looking at the database the media url link information is located in the wp_postmeta table. I just want to avoid copying the media URL one by one into each episode. What is the quickest way to do this?

    Hello @biblestudyradio,

If you do not mind, please visit the following link: https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/advanced-tools-and-options/migrating-from-podpress-to-powerpress/ I recommend reading the entire page, but the second section titled “Migrate episodes from PodPress to PowerPress and WordPress” answers your last question. The rest of the page may answer more questions you may have as well.
