• I’m rebuilding a site from scratch and need to include links, so I’ve uploaded and activated this plugin.

I’ve then gone into php MySql for the old site and exported the links table and imported it into the new site.

The links appear in the new site just fine, but their categories don’t… And with over 100 links in various categories I’d rather not have to redo them.

Any thoughts as to why this might be happening? Thanks.

  • lifesgood,

I THINK this is the answer, but not absolutely sure:

Before this new plugin was created, the Old Link Manager created categories by ID number. I don’t think WordPress 3.5 and on will continue to do this. I used to go to the Old Link Manager and click on any particular category that I had already previously created with a minimum of 2-3 links. When I then looked in the address bar of my browser, at the very end, would be an ID number attached to that category.

I am not sure and don’t remember if a plugin I still use created that ID number, OR WordPress itself created it…..I haven’t been able to get an answer from any WordPress developer yet.

See my earlier post about ID numbers.

The code never changed in 3.5. Only a check was added to show links or not.

We still use ID numbers for categories. Just like any other taxonomy WordPress has. The problem here is that only the links table has been moved and not the taxonomy tables.
