Import into multiple categories

Trying to import posts direct frm an xcl file. My categories column includes multiple existing categories in my blog, but when I imp or the categories get added as “links,association” rather than the two categories the post belongs to “Links” AND “association”
How do I delineate multiple categories for my import?
