    Hi!

First of all, thanks for a great plugin. I guess this is wot I need. I already set up the user-submission thing, and it works so fine.

Then, I would like to import all my links into the system. Wether i use different CSV (versions) types, it won’t let me import. I use Excel 2010 to import your template (and seperates with either commas or semicolons) and when I then I filles in all my data I save it as a CSV file (either a DOS CSV or one of the other versions possible).

Bpoth way doenst seem to work.

Button is simply called Export all links, just above the button to save settings under General Settings section.

All righty … now I got this far>

i exported all links and then deleted all liks and vategories from WP.

I fixed all my errors, and CHECKED it twice that my master data was correct.

I converted the file to an comma seperated CSV and imrpoted – with no errors!

I see all categories I made – they are correct – all of them. Each of them have X qty links and i guess thats right too.

But I also see links where the link name now should have been – if cheking the output: https://www.fleksjobbernetvaerket.dk/links … check the “Kommunale Jobcentre” category.
This goes for category “Statslig organisation” as well.

When i go to Links, I can see that the some of the links actually are wrong … in the name field. BUT my master data (first XLS file and then CSV file seems to be correct).

II can send you the two files and make a admin user to my site if u like?

    thanks
    Knud

@jackdewey I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.

Hi Jan, Thanks for the reply. I do want to state that the user first suggested sending me his credentials, as you can see at the bottom of the previous reply.

Where can I find a list of things that I should not do in the forum?

For example, if I trying to troubleshoot a problem that a user is seeing in the admin panel for one of my plugins, but which I cannot reproduce in my own installation, can I ask him for a database dump? That dump would contain encrypted user passwords.

Knud, I will try to reproduce the issue on my side and let you know if I need more information from you.

Knud, I just ran a quick test, exporting links, making a change to a link name and importing, and the change took place without creating a new entry.

How many link names are wrong? Are they only links with special characters in the names?

If that is the case, it might be an encoding issue. The default encoding of the csv export is UTF-8 No Mark. Perhaps changing the encoding to UTF-8 by using a programming text editor would resolve the issue.

    Hi Yannick

I have more than 40+ errors in different link categories.
I just found out that is probably because I use the danish letetrs: ? ? ? in the link name.

At the moment i do not know how to convert it right.

Are you on Windows or on MAC? If on Windows, install a text editor like Programmer’s Notepad (pnotepad.org). Then edit the .csv file and go to the File menu and open the Encoding sub-menu. Then, select UTF-8.

On MAC, you would need to find a good code text editor and find out how to change the encoding.

If you still have trouble changing the encoding, e-mail me the CSV file and I can change the encoding for you, then return it your way. You can send the file through my contact form at ylefebvre.ca/contact-me.

OMG! You are GREATER than GREAT – it works … also with the danish letters.
    Wasn’t really aware of that.

will i post suggestions to future developments here as well Yannick ?

Glad that did the trick. Suggestions for future improvements can definitely be posted here, just in separate threads. As discussed before, if you use the plugin a lot or on different projects, also feel free to support it again down the road ??
