import from tree of flatfiles?

    I’m developing a news site, and we have about 8 years worth of archives as regular .html files. They are organized in folders that match exactly to year/issuedate/category. There are comments that set off the actual content of the article. Check out an example article here.

    I would like to import this whole structure somewhat automatically. For archive purposes, it’s important that wordpress can pick up the year and date. It would also be nice if it could pick up the category, since it’s in the URL. Anyone have any ideas?
