• Hi,
I’m wanted to export my files from sermon browser and import them onto sermon manager – same host, but different wordpress site / domain. I want to keep the podcast feed from being interrupted and ensure sermons from now are added to the existing podcast.

Please could you advise the best way to do this? I see you can import from sermon browser, but I can’t see an option to export from sermon browser.

Worst case – I don’t mind re-adding the latest sermon series and starting again, so to speak, on sermon manager on the new website. But my priority is not to interrupt the podcast feed. Could you explain how this could work…?

Appreciate any help you can give me, thanks

  • Going to assume that Domain-1 has been using Sermon Browser (SB) and Domain-2 will use Sermon Manager (SM)?

I would guess you’re going to have to install SM on Domain-1 and then use the Import/Export feature to IMPORT from SB. Once you’ve done that then use the ‘Export to File’ and save that on your computer. Next you’ll have Domain-2. Use the ‘Import from File’ from SM.

Totally untested as I’ve never use SB, but I think that is your only option as I doubt there will be another response here.

yes thanks – that’s what I’m trying to do. Thanks, I’ll try that. Do you know if the podcast will stay the same or do I need to update anything on sermon manager on new domain?

Pretty sure you’re going to have to do a redirect on your podcast because you’ve changed domains.

    Thanks.
    Just to clarify:
I select redirect on sermon manager settings, under old url I put the old website url for the sermons from Domain 1, then the new url where [sermons] are on the new website Domain 2,

And then the sermons haven’t been uploaded to itunes so far, so could I just submit the new url to itunes?

    Thanks for your help.

I forgot that SM had an option for redirecting Podcast, so you should be good. I was thinking you had to use a 301 from your .htaccess file.

If you haven’t submitted your old domain/sermons to iTunes, then yes, use the new domain.

    Ok, thanks!
I assume they need to keep their old domain active so they don’t lose all the sermons?

I think iTunes only saves the last 10 sermons, at least that’s what I see on our iTunes account.

Ok . And in terms of the sermons on the new domain that have been imported from old domain – they’re still stored on old domain , right? So those links would stop working if domain not renewed?

I honestly don’t know. I’ve never used Sermon Browser. Never tried to import either. You would have to look at the url of the imported sermons to know if they used the old domain or the new.

But yes, if they used the old domain and you don’t keep it, the old stuff will be gone.
