We have a staging site set up to test migrating from All In One SEO to Yoast and it will not bring over the meta descriptions. I also tried SEO Data Transporter and no luck there either. Is there a reason this would have issues and is there anything else you would recommend to try? This was the result of the analyze:
    Compatible Elements:

    1. Custom Doctitle
    2. META Description
    3. META Keywords
The analysis found 2 compatible database records to be converted.

However, after you run it, it says 618 records updated, 590 were ignored.
I check live site meta vs. staging meta and it is not there.
    thanks,

@fooey We’re sorry to hear you are having trouble import your SEO data from the All In One SEO plugin.

Can you please confirm you are using the most recent version of Yoast SEO (version 15.5) and that All In One SEO is also updated to it’s most recent version (version 3.7.1)? You can learn more about updating here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

Also, can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.6? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/

Regarding the message of ‘618 records updated, 590 were ignored’, are you receiving that message from the SEO Data Transporter plugin when you attempt to use it to import the SEO Data? The message of ‘Records ignored’ means that SEO Data Transporter found data for fields using your new SEO plugin’s field names.

    Hello,
Yes, I can confirm that both plugins are up to date as well as WordPress running 5.6.

Yes, I am receiving that message from the SEO Data Transporter plugin when I attempt to use it to import the SEO Data. However, when I run it now it is showing 0 updated. I still am not seeing the meta descriptions in Yoast. What else can I try or do you suggest?
    Thanks

    Hi,

We’re not sure if it’s something with the SEO Data Transporter plugin that is causing it not to move the meta descriptions from All-in-One SEO to Yoast SEO, but you may want to contact their support team for that concern.

However, when you use the ‘import settings’ functionality from the Yoast SEO plugin, it should be able to get the relevant settings from the All-in-One SEO plugin as it is covered here — https://yoast.com/help/import-options-in-yoast-seo/

Yes, I tried that first. When it didn’t work, that is when I tried the Transporter plugin as suggested in the migration post for Yoast. When that didn’t work, I contacted you here.
So neither Yoast nor Transporter brought over the meta descriptions. I can try contacting them as well but is there any reason it would not work in Yoast either?
    thank you

    Hi @fooey,

Since version 14.0, Yoast SEO made a major change to the way that it stores and optimizes the SEO data, so we’re not sure that the plugins you mentioned support the way the latest version of Yoast SEO uses data.

If you have any other details from the plugin developers, please feel free to get back to us. We’ll leave this issue open for the next week, just in case.

We can definitely understand that being able to import data like titles and descriptions using Yoast SEO is a useful feature, so there is already a feature request under review. Unfortunately, we’re not able to provide an estimate for when there will be an update about this.
