• Hi Ya’ll, I am trying to import my WP.com blog @ How2BecomeAChristianINFOblog.com
to my new self hosted blog @ How2BecomeAChristianBLOG.com

I upload the WXR file and after I select my user name and it goes to do the import,,, I get this message

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 40108032) (tried to allocate 4864 bytes) in /home/damonw/public_html/how2becomeachristianblog.com/wp-includes/kses.php(401) : runtime-created function on line 1

I tried about 10 times and I emptied my browser cache but that did not help. I hope someone can help because I have over 350 post and it would take forever to cut and paste them over.

    Thanks
    Damon

  • That error is a PHP error that is often caused either by lack of memory on your host or incorrect permissions.

If you have access to PhpMyAdmin, I could do this one thing for you. If you could send me the WXR, I could restore it on my system and then create the sql for you which you then import into your database at your host.

If you don’t want to do that, contact your host and tell them you are having memory issues.

Hi snat,,, Thank you for the response

I kept trying and it eventually imported about half of the 400 plus post. But then I found out all categories and tags where dead. Had to remove them all.

I have two new blogs in the works that will be self hosted copies of wp.com blogs. So I have over 800 post to import.

I happened to run into a WP news article from a WP employee and followed a link to his web services site. Migration without broken links is one of the things he does. But he is outrageous in his price. He must be good. J

Will turning the WXR file into SQL avoid broken links? If so man,, just tell me where to send the file.

I was thinking to paste 800 post would be a good weeks work. And most of the post are not mine on one blog since it is a groupblog exposing those fake preachers on TV. I could pay a little bit though,, if that will solve my problem.

Thanks for the offer to help

If you can send me the WXR file to my personal e-mail address, I will get it to you as a .sql. I do not ask for any payment but I wouldn’t turn down a pint ??

There won’t be any broken links and I am willing to work with ya to get it sorted. Load up the image below and my e-mail is listed on it. Once I turn it onto a .sql for you, I will explain how to get this onto your host. Once that is done, you will be able to use it normally ??
