Import existing media into fresh WP install
-
Hi.
I had to reinstall my blog of 10 years to rid it of unwanted spammy crap (FYI stay away from plugin Sweet Captcha). When I did, WordPress didn’t recognize all the images that I put back in their rightful places. They exist in the proper locations, but haven’t been imported into the database. I know the images are there, because within the posts, the images show up. But they aren’t in the WP Media Library. This mainly matters because it means they have no featured images, which means my main blog page has broken image links where the short description and thumbs would be.
So I have been looking through the forums, and most of the posts recommend a plugin call Add From Server. However, that plugin doesn’t work with my server’s version of Apache; it won’t even let me activate it.
I did find another option, a plugin called Media From FTP. This worked, at first. But then I turned on Jetpack, which includes the CDN, and after that the plugin stopped working. I’ve put in a post for support on the plugin’s page, but since my site has been down for a week I’m freaking out a bit and hoping for any solution I can find to get my thumbnails back.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Natch I turned of Jetpack until this is resolved, and even uninstalled/reinstalled that plugin, to no avail. I have access to my log/error log in case that is helpful. Any other plugins I might try? Any code I can plugin in? Any ideas whatsoever? I’ll try them! I’m so scared of losing ten years of backlinks over this!
