• I’m trying to import from a localhost testing site to my new externally hosted site – WordPress 3.3. on both.

I get the error “Sorry, there has been an error.
This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number”

I have seen other threads saying that the trick is to put the following line of code in the Channel section “<wp:wxr_version>1.1</wp:wxr_version>” but I have checked the XML file and that is there.

    Any other suggestions?

  • I got the same Problem…

Same here. Does anyone know a solution?

Same problem. I have a dev envrinoment in 3.2.1, live in 3.3. I have limited time to get this up and running. if anyone has a solution, you’ll save me hours. thanks

Any solutions!?!?! It appears this has been an issue for far too long!
I’m on the most recent version of WP, trying to import the xml, and getting the same dreadful error.

I’ve been searching for an hour for a solution, and still nothing.
So could SOMEBODY please point me in the right direction, because I’m trying to build a website for job, and this is hindering my progress greatly.

it would be very appreciated, I was happy with WordPress until now, this is just ridiculous. It’s supposed to be an automated & fool-proof process, yet there’s hundreds upon hundreds of people with the same, unsolved issue.
