• I have a very large (over 10 years of daily posts) WordPress install backed up as a .sql file. I’ve been using BigDump to import it into my database following the directions faithfully. I’ve changed the wp-config file and changed the address in the options table. I’ve made sure that the database user has all permissions and still it shoots me right to the install screen. I tried uploading an older version of WordPress (since my database is from somewhere around 2013) but that didn’t help. I’ve Googled and searched the forums and tried everything (deleting the .htaccess file, changing the content of the .htaccess file) including several re-imports but no go. What am I missing?

Is there another way to get my blog posts about of the .sql file? I exported it that way because it was too big to export as an xml file — I had to do it in several pieces and this seemed easier.

  • Are you up to use another importation method instead of BigDump?

if so, I would recommend the Duplicator plugin. It is really awesome, simply to use and free.

With this plugin you’ll create two files, an installer and a zip file containing all your data.

After that you only have to download both, place them inside your www directory and access the installer file via browser, it will load an assistant to help you finish the migration.

Here’s the link in case you want to check it out:
