I’m changing web hosting servers to avoid a swingeing price increase. I’m hoping at the same time to upgrade to WordPress 3.1.3. I’ve installed 3.1.3 on the new server but on importing the old 3.0.2 database SQL spits out an error:

#1044 – Access denied for user ‘wordshi’@’localhost’ to database ‘wordmstr_blog’

The nameservers still point to the ‘old’ servers. User names and database names seem to have different lengths from before, when the blog was first set up. The site is https://www.climateconversation.wordshine.co.nz. With nameservers unchanged, I cannot yet set up the subdomain.

How do I equalise the installed users, or should I just copy the present installation and accomplish the upgrade later?

Does anyone have advice for this situation, please?

Thanks to anybody considering a reply to this problem. Since the old server will be unavailable from midnight tomorrow I must press on in case of further delays.

I will remove the 3.1.3 WP installation and simply copy the old 3.0.2 to the new server. The upgrade can wait until later.
