Implimenting Adsense Code On My Posts

I have been approved for the first step of Adsense however I now need to actually place the ad code on my site. I had thought that I had done it correctly by copy and pasting but it was not done right. When I contacted customer service I was told that word press was putting page breaks on the code that were causing it not to function. I have some slight coding experience but not much.
