• This review is based purely on my experience with using this plug-in (and using it in combination with the pro version). Aside from all the potentially useful features this plug-in offers, I noticed one unavoidable truth. It dramatically slows down the performance of my site. My simple test is this. Run the site with the plug-in activated and my chosen settings in place, as they pertain to my LMS. Note of the response time of pages, while navigating around in the LMS. Then, deactivate the plug-in- and note the response time of the same LMS pages. My observation has been that everything takes significantly longer to load while using the uncanny toolkit plugin. Admittedly I don’t know every aspect of everything that is involved in this process. But I do know that it’s slower when I use this plug-in, making its usability questionable for me. Has anybody else experienced this issue?

This is not a fair assessment of our plugin.

    1. This forum is for reviews of the Toolkit plugin in the repository, not the Toolkit plus other add-ons. Did you perform load/performance testing with only the free Toolkit active?
    2. Turning on ALL modules, including what’s available in Pro, is not a realistic test case. There are almost 50 features between the 2 plugins, some heavy, and no site should consider turning everything on – we have never seen a site that did, only what’s useful to that site. The average site turns on perhaps 10 modules and would see negligible performance difference.
    3. You have never logged a support ticket with us. If you experienced performance issues, why not raise them with us so that we could help? Because you’re using multiple plugins AND have all modules are turned on, it’s likely that a single module in Pro is increasing load: the Simple Course Timer. And if you had raised it with us, we would have recommended switching to the Beta timer mechanism and increasing the timer interval. Keep in mind though that this module is not related to the plugin reviewed here.
    4. Your license expired for the Pro addon, so you are using an older version. When you had an active license you had access to our Help Desk, and we really could have guided you in the right direction here to get the most out of our plugins.

At the end of the day, you didn’t give us an opportunity to help or explain what specifically might be affecting performance. Instead you left a negative review asking for feedback after leaving a poor rating.

Note: An updated review is forthcoming to reflect several very positive conversations I’ve had with the uncanny team since initially posting the review.I’ve also increased my reading by one. Just based on these interactions and will likely adjust furtherBased on my continued useOf the plug-in and dialogue with the support team and developers. A special shout out to Ryan who has been both positive and helpful in discussing some of the issues I was having With the plug-in previously. ??
