Impact on website performance (data to prove)
-
I’ve been using this plugin since day one. Love the idea of hiding the fact that I’m using WordPress. Had some issues with password recovery but after posting them, took about a week for the plugin developer to provide an update, which is great. Chapeau!
Was considering to donate, I always support the plugins I’m using. I make money with them, developers need to make money as well!Sadly though, I will need to stop using this plugin. I’ve ran a benchmark on a not so powerful dedicated server running WordPress + WooCommerce on an Apache FPM with PHP7. The site is in development mode, no caching techniques have ben applied.
Using apache bench (ab -n 100 -c 100 https://www.example.com) I was able to get 13.9 requests per second with wp-hide disabled and 11.6 requests per second with the plugin enabled and most options active. That’s up to 17% reduction in performance.
All in all, great plugin so far, amazing development and commitment, could easily rank it 5 stars, it’s just that this plugin makes the websites slower, and if you want to squeeze all the performance out of the website, you’d need think twice before installing it.
