I’m testing out this this plugin with the free 20 posts, but have run into a problem with the image import.

The documentation for the free version says it should be importing the first image of a post and making that the feature image too. The problem is it’s importing all the images into the Media Library, but they’re all the thumbnailed low res versions rather than the actual high res images.

If I click the images, it does load the high res from Blogger, but I’m not seeing the first/featured image being imported as high res as the documentation says it should be.

Is this just a bug of the free version and the paid version (which I’m planning to buy if this works) will import the images properly?

    Thanks!
    Matt.

Hi Matt, thanks for giving the plugin a try!

The images which are imported are the exact same ones provided in the content of the post from Blogger. It sounds like the images may have been inserted into the post using a smaller size. You avoid that, you could change the image size option to “Original Size” in the Blogger post editor before starting a new import to WordPress. You can read more about the image size option in Blogger at https://support.pipdig.co/articles/blogger-how-to-make-images-full-width/

    Thanks for the reply!

You’re correct, in Blogger I’ve set the image to Medium so it fits inline to the blog post. If I change it to original size, it blows out to full res and messes up the post.

Is there no way for the importer plugin to insert the image into the WP post at the adjusted size, but import the full res image into the Media Library?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately there is no consistent way of doing this due to the variable nature of the image sources from Blogger. As such, the only safe way to import the images is to use the exact same image that is in the blog post content itself.

No problem. I just tried it with setting the original image size in Blogger and it’s not too painful to manually go into the posts and set the size back down. It actually gave me a reason to do a little layout rearranging of the posts! ??

Thanks for you advice and help!
