I have another question for that.
Should i maybe let them think that “admin” is a possible useraccount they can try out ?
if i block admin and others, they know that admin is not avaible anymore.

but on the other side they see i have some Firewall plugin, what is better ?

It seems to be working just fine for me on my site.

Are you able to share the login URL?

Have you tested this yourself? I test it by using a VPN to switch IPs then try logging in using the banned username in an incognito/private browser window.

If you’re able to test it, and you’re not getting locked out when using the banned usernames I’d suggest checking for a plugin conflict by disabling plugins while testing it.
