    Was the problem the following HTML: ?
    src=”data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==”

    I can see that the picturefill.js script inserts such a gif:
    c="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw=="

    So the solution must simply be to deactivate picturefill.
    There is such an option in WebP Express settings. It is called “disable the “Dynamically load picturefill.js on older browsers”. You find it below Alter HTML > What to replace

    I’m guessing that it is the the lazyload script that does not play well together with picturefill.js.

    You can also try using “Replace image URLs” instead.
