Hello… I’m back again with the Imagify issue.

The plugin gave me 70% of my website’s optimized images which was an improvement as I kept trying to optimize images. The other images could not be optimized which shows 30% (502) of them have errors such as…

Backup failed: The backup directory is not writable

The backup directory is not writable

I installed the Helper plugin. This did not correct the issue.

I contacted Hostgator, this did not resolve the issue.

I was told some time ago there could be an Imagify update coming and to change my status to Resolved. I just wanted to give an update and see if there is something else I can try to get the remaining 30% of images optimized.

My other connected website, How-TV-Videos, had no errors. All images were optimized. Both sites are on the same server.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @pbsbluejay

Since there is still an issue you could try to install and activate?our Imagify Tools helper plugin?and then open an image that returns the error “The backup directory is not writable” through Media Library(List View), and scroll down to check the area of “File infos” as in the following screenshot https://paste.pics/KY3B3. Are there any red backgrounds to report?

    Best Regards,

    Hello… Thanks for the help.

I followed your steps and scrolled down to “File Infos”.

There is a long red bar that says, “Has backup No”

Also, Imagify is not Auto-Optimizing my images during upload.

    Hey @pbsbluejay

This is very strange if you were able to optimize 70% of images already. There must be some change in the meantime that triggered this problem.

I must ask you another question, sorry.

In your screenshot, there is “File owner” section, can you compare it with some already optimized image and let me know if:

    1. that image has backup
    2. if File owner is the same as in this failed image

When you upload image, does optimization at least starts or nothing happens (make sure to check if auto optimization is active in Imagify Settings if this is the case).

    Best Regards
