I just installed the latest Nextgen plugin (again)
PHP 5.0

I did install NextGen 3 months ago and it didn’t work. No galleries or albums created. I was having many problems with my site. I did a Big site clean-up: reinstalled WP, my theme & deleted all plug-ins and started fresh. I also cleaned & optimized my DB tables.

Now that i have my site back in proper working order, I wanted to start using NextGen. I installed it, activated it, but when I try to add images, it shows the processing of the image upload, but once it gets to 100% – I get a message “0 images were uploaded”. Tried a couple more times & nothing.

I looked at my DB tables – there aren’t ANY for NGG.

How can I the nextgen plugin to create the necessary tables or how can I fix this?

thanks in advance!

@justinta – If you looked into your WordPress database and did not see the three tables with “ngg” in their names then you are correct they are not there.

I would suggest, deactivating the plugin and reactivating it as a quick check … look to see if the database tables were added. If not, then deactivate and delete the plugin (you may need to use an FTP client to completely remove the plugin sometimes).

Now, re-install and re-activate the plugin … does that get this sorted out?

Hi…I’m having the same issue. I tried deactivating/reactivating and then deactivating/deleting but that didn’t help. The error message I receive is “Failed to extract images from ZIP – 0 images were uploaded,” which is odd since I’m trying to upload image files directly, not via a ZIP file.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

@photocrati – thank you for responding & for a suggestion.
Before I posted to the forum I had tried what you suggest – activate/deactivate.
Delete/uninstall and reinstall & activate. Nothing – the images won’t upload because The ngg db tables will not/are not being added.

I have attempted to remove all ngg files via FTP, though maybe I’m missing some somewhere?? Do you have a list of which files I need to look for besides the obvious areas

- content/plugins/Nextgen-gallery

content/ngg_styles

Suggestions?
thank you again !

@justinta – Removing all of the files/folders related to the /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/ should be fine as far as the file system goes, my concern is your WordPress installation not allowing additional database tables to be added.

Although an extreme suggestion, have you tried deactivating all of your other active plugins first before trying to install and activate NextGEN Gallery? I would especially look at any “security” plugins.

Otherwise, you may want to contact your web hosting company and have them look into why new tables cannot be added to an existing database.

Thanks!

I may be having similar issues, when I upload images to NGG I get broken images. Any suggestions?

I’ve deactivated and reactivated the plugin and switched to default themes and still get the broken image file.

@townerusa – You should create your own topic for your own specific issue, it would be much easier to deal with what you are experiencing that way as the likelihood of your two issues being the exact same is rare.

Thanks!

no problem, i am just not sure what the problem is and it seemed the same here, not that savvy with this kind of discussion.

@townerusa – No worries. When in doubt and any searches don’t offer a solution it is always fine to start your own topic … it helps prevent your concerns from being lost in among others.

Hi – Nextgen 2.0.4 is still not working for me
– I have activated/deactivated
– Uninstalled/reinstalled
– deactivated all of my other plugins
– spoken with my hosting company & they say everything is normal on their end
– I am able to install other plugins and get new tables added to my db.

My hosting co recommended I rollback to an older version of Nextgen since there are known incompatibilities with 3.0.4

I did this, and choose 2.0.33 (at random)
By doing this new install, I now am able to upload images – the db tables were built

BUT – there are errors with 2.0.33
-I created two test galleries and one test album which included the two galleries (by using the Gallery dashboard NOT the Nextgen option in New Post, since this does not work for some reason)
-The Album post page displays, but when I click on the gallery thumb, it directs me to a page that states ‘Not a valid template’

Do you have a quick solution to get this working for me? I feel I’m wasting too much time to get this plugin working ….

Is there a better rollback version you’d recommend?

(I am using a premium template Themeforest Striking_R, WP 3.8)

Thank you @ipstenu for correcting my li mis-formatting ??

@justinta – Now that the NextGEN Gallery tables have been added you should be able to update to the latest version (currently 2.0.40), have you tried that to see if these issues can be cleared up?

@photocrati / Cais. I haven’t tried to upgrade yet…wanted to hear back from you first to see if you think there may be a conflict.

Will try later on/tomorrow (it’s evening here for me)

Thank you –

(@photocrati)

@justinta – I cannot guarantee you will not find a conflict when you update, I am just suggesting it should not be an issue to update NextGEN Gallery to the current version now that whatever was stopping the database tables from being created has been worked around.

(It’s still something that is troubling but this is also the only report I recall seeing with this particular issue.)

Thanks!
