Images Won’t Load to Page/Post from Media Library

    Files that I have uploaded to the media library will not appear when I select/insert them into a post/page. Instead I get a placeholder with a question mark in the middle.

    I removed all the media from the library and uploaded fresh files but that didn’t help.

    The one image that is the banner to the site works, but not if I try to put that into a post or a page.

    Any thoughts?

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    If the above steps don’t help, try Enabling debugging

    Thanks for the advice – deactivating all plugins worked. Surprisingly it’s Jetpack that is causing the trouble. Completely unexpected.

    Things seem to be resolved.

    Ok. I did the same thing. I deactivated everything. Then the new gallery worked. Then I had to reactive the offending plugin because it makes my gallery on the front page work. It takes readers to the links I’ve attached to the pictures. So, I turned it back on. Now the front page works again – if you click on the picture it takes people to the post – however the new gallery I built does not work. It does not appear on the page.

    So the plugin makes the front page work but somehow blocks the posting of new galleries.

    The offending plug-in is “gallery custom links”

    Any ideas?

    First off, try updating that plugin.
