• Hello,

I am using the latest version of WordPress 5.5.1, running the VideoPro theme.

When I originally installed the theme, it was recommended to populate it with the provided sample data. After setting up the site, I attempted to delete the sample data because it was filling up the server when backups were performed. I also deactivated the plugin that kept adding the data back into the site.

In the File Manager I can see lots of images from the sample data still in the folders, organized by year/month.

Previously, these sample images in the upload folder were shown in the media library.

Now, I see that images in the upload folder won’t load in media library.

I uploaded a new image today, and this image does *not* show in the list, either.

I now have *NO* images shown in the Media Library.

Question: How can I get the images to appear in the Media Library as before?

    Many thanks!

p.s. This site has had persistent issues with loading slowly, and even the Site Health Status does not complete looking at the site (spinning ball).

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @commontater,

I’m sorry you are having issues with that!

    Let’s see…

1st of all Have you tried the following?
    – deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).

    Hi @jbotten

Thanks for the suggestion. I deactivated all plugins and checked the media library. The images still do not display there.

The theme (VideoPro) came with many, many plugins (25) and has been slow loading from the beginning but I thought I had it sort of working.

Now I see that the back end is not responding well, either.

I notice that the entire site seems to be acting a bit strangely. For example, on the admin side, when I try various simple functions (clicking the “plugins” checkbox to select all plugins) – nothing happens. I needed to check each plugin individually so I could deactivate them. If I click on Appearance > Customize, it tries to load the theme customization menu but gets nowhere. I see “you are customizing (and my site name) in the top left, and it never completes loading the page.

Should I be looking for issues in how the back end is set up, or maybe even download the entire site and re-post it (if that’s possible)?

Question: Could the image display issue be part of a larger problem with the site?

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Hey @commontater
    Humm…
Looking at the service status of WordPress right now and everything should function normally…
I’m not sure yet what is happening, but let’s try to figure out together ??.

I know those steps are going to sound simple, but did you try to log out and log back in?
Did you try to reset your browser, cookies or try a different browser ?
Are you using the WordPress App or the admin editor online ?
Do you have issues for uploading any media or is it one media in particular?

Sorry it’s a lot of questions, trying to look at all the possibilities:)

    Cordially

    Hi,

No problem – I appreciate your help.

I have just now tried a different browser.

I’m using the admin online to access the site.

On the other browser, the media folder is still empty, and the other problems remain.

I tried looking at the site using FTP (Filezilla) but was not able to see images that way. I use Siteground for hosting, and through their File Manager I could see image files, but didn’t see them via FTP. I tried to download the site files, but got only a partial download.

Uploading images – I was able to upload a new image file today (Media > Add New), but that image doesn’t appear in the media library, either.

Just opened an article – I can see the sample text and a featured image (this material came from the VideoPro theme). On the front end, I can see the image and text, also.

It seems like the images are in the site, but they are not visible in the media library.

The sample stuff from the theme developer seemed to take up lots of room, so I disabled the plugin that supplied it. The developer said that I would need to delete the sample files by hand, however.

Question: Could this theme somehow require the presence of the sample data plugin?

Please let me know what you think of the answers above.

    Many thanks.
