Images wont display anywhere – except for when editing

  • Using Customizr theme.

    I hope you can help I am having great difficulty using any images on my website.

    I use the upload media page to upload a jpg ( copy here)

    It uploads the image – crunches the image
    It then just displays a broken image symbol next to it rather than a thumbnail as indicated by the tutorials etc.

    When i edit the image within wordpress (crop rotate etc) it displays the image, but when i save, still nothing shows.

    I cannot use the image on front page, featured image, sliders nothing. This is the same with all jpg’s that I try to upload. and both the browser upload and multifile upload.

  • I’ve got exactly the same problem.
    Tried different images etc.

    Image loads in Media Library but doesn’t display although you can go into edit and it does display there.
    You can use the image selected in widgets but just displays the file name on the blog.

    All the existing images uploaded prior to the 3.8 update work fine.

    I think I have solved the problem.
    Every month Media Library creates a new subfolder in the uploads directory.
    The new folders being created did not have full write access priviledges like previous months. When the privileges were added manually the Media Library started working fine again.
