Images upload but are rotated 90 degrees on PC not mobile

WP 4.1.1 with Cyclone Slider 2 v. 2.9.7
So we have everything installed and was working. Uploaded from the iPhone (ios 8) to a new slideshow. All was good on the ipad and iphone. Checked on the macbook (OS 10.6, Firefox 36.0.1) and all the slides were rotated 90 degrees. huh.
Erased all that batch of pictures. Tried again uploading fewer at a time, 4 then 8 then 12. At 12 pictures upload to slideshow at least a couple are rotated 90 degrees in the macbook all good on the ios mobile devises.
We want to dump using the macbook and just use the mobile devices.
Why would the images get rotated 90 degrees?
