Hi! I started trying to use RSS merge tags in mail chimp yesterday. At first, everything was fine using Send Images to RSS and *|RSSITEM:IMAGE|*

After an hour or so, I noticed that the images were no longer working. I’m not at all sure what happened. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Send Images to RSS to no avail. Can you help?

I believe that the *|RSSITEM:IMAGE|* merge tag works by getting a <media:content> tag from the feed, but this plugin doesn’t use that tag. Your images are in your feed, but you likely need to adjust your email template. All you need to do is to get the content. Here’s a sample email template that is a decent, simple starting point.

Note the content merge tag in the example: use *|RSSITEM:CONTENT_FULL|*, not *|RSSITEM:CONTENT_FULL_TEXT|* or *|RSSITEM:CONTENT_TEXT|*, as those won’t include images.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you for your response. I promise you, it DID work for a time! Hmmm, I’ll keep working on it. CONTENT_FULL isn’t exactly what I want. :/

In your case, it looks like your feed is set to excerpts, so despite the name, that merge tag will still only pull your excerpts/descriptions, not the actual full post. Is that what you’re saying you don’t want? With the feed set to excerpts, it won’t actually matter.
