• I’ve noticed something very strange happening on some of my pages.

I’ll insert images into a page, and when I view the page everything looks fine. Then – I’ll revisit the page later and the images are missing. There isn’t a broken image thing, and I’ve checked my FTP to make sure the images are there, and you can view the image if you right click on the right area.

If I go in to edit the page – sometimes the images are there. Sometimes not. But there is a blank space where they would be, and mousing over that area brings up the options to edit or delete whatever isn’t displaying in that blank space. Attempting to edit shows the image is there but doesn’t correct the blank space. Then an hour later, it’s working fine again. It’s fairly infuriating.

But here’s the weird part – reloading the page in another browser, or simply waiting 5 minutes, will show all the images again.

Has anyone else had this issue?

yes! it is driving me crazy. does anybody have a fix for this?

This does indeed sound very weird. Sounds like the image is very large and taking a while to download or your server is acting, up.

Can you provide a link to a page on your site where this happens?

    Christine –

can’t provide a link at the moment as the site is protected. i can send you a private link though. it’s not just images that are hosted on my site — it’s external images as well, and the images in question are pretty small — like 23kb.

I’m also experiencing the same thing on a blog that I manage. You may be able to see the problem:

I’m using the Chrome web browser, but I don’t know that it’s causing the issue. It could be some kind of caching problem (I’m using wp-super-cache) but I can’t seem to diagnose it.

@abecoffman – I’m not using wp-super-cache but I am using Chrome (on MAC). I have found that I don’t experience this issue in any other browser – or at least that I can’t replicate it yet. It seems to be somewhat related to the other issues I have with Chrome having fits of selectively omitting content or taking forever to load tiny files.

I haven’t found a fix for it yet, but if I notice it happening I just boot up FireFox or Safari.

@secondtail yeah I’ve since come to realize it’s a chrome issue, but thanks for the response. Here’s a related question on stackoverflow:

Hopefully Chrome will get this figured out!
