images sent to editor in thumbnail size, not original

I’ve been using wordpress for about six months now and don’t remmeber having this problem (i’m using version 2). normally, i would upload my image then click on them and choose “send to editor”, then choose the image options button in order to reset the image’s dimensions. recently, my images seem to be “sent to editor” as thumbnails.

what seems to be the problem?
