• Again, hello.
I have a demo default word press installation and I’m trying to put a few box adds just above the footer on each page. Any ideas on which element of the template I should do this in.

I’ve created <tables> with the links and images and put them into page template and main template with no success.

Any ideas would be helpfull. This is a default theme by-the-way

  • If you want it above the footer you should probably look at the footer.php ??
    – or alternatively you can take a look at my visual anatomy to understand how templates work .

Wouldn’t the placement of images in the footer push the footer down further if I wanted the images just above them?

By-the-way Visual Anatomy person; I love it. can I syndicate the page giving you full credit of course.

I’ll look that over and see about putting the images in the main pages. they are just affiliate ads I dont want in the footer or in the right side navigation area.

Without knowing what theme are you trying to modify it’s gonna be difficult. “The footer” actually is the footer.php file which contains much more than what usually it’s called footer on a page. It contains the “bottom” of your displayed site – that’s why I said you should look at it. You can put an image in the main template, too (a.k.a. index.php) but it all depends on the design of your theme.

Standard theme that comes with wordpress.

?? WP comes with two (2) themes: Default and Classic. Which one do you call standard?

    Sorry, Default.

    *bump*

what is wrong with the advice that moshu offered? it seems to me to be the best solution for what you have asked for. if you don’t want the images on every page then you should not place it in footer.php, but if you do it looks like an obvious choice.

My concern is that by placing the images in the footer is that it will push the page down further. Idealy I would like the images to float below the posts and responses.

Try it and if it doesn’t work come back, give us a link and we will take a look. We all learned the WP by trial and error. But nobody is going to do experiements for you. Instead of waiting for a ready-made solution, just try what was said above. Do not worry before.
And I really do not understand your concern. If you put something in between the posts and the footer – YES, that thing will push the footer lower. How else? It needs some room, doesn’t it???
