    Hallo,

I have been manually reuploading content from my previous site to a new site (which failed to upload using the export/import method). I am hitting a challnege whereby about 40 of my images completely refuse to upload to the media library.
I receive an error message that says “An error occured in the upload. Please try again later” over and over.
I have tried, uploading images one by one – still error message. Deactivating all my plugins – still error message.
What could be wrong and how can I fix it?

    Thanks!

  • WordPress should provide an exact error message when this error occurs. An exact error can help troubleshoot this problem.

You’ll need Chrome browser for this.

    1. Go to your Media Library and click Add New.
    2. Press F12 to open Developer Tools.
    3. Click on Network tab.
    4. Now, try uploading an image that causes this error.
    5. Once error occurs, in the Network tab look for a file called async_upload.php
    6. Click on this file (async_upload.php)
    7. Then click on Response tab to see error message.

What you’re interested in is the “Message” part. That should describe exact error.

Post the error message here and we can try to help figure out how to fix it.

Hallo, and many thanks for your response.

While I was waiting I thought I would give minimising all the images (though they were not giving an http error message) a try. I did this for all 40 images and reuploaded – and they uploaded!!!!

    Great news.
