Images not uploading!

  • Unable to create directory error when uploading images.
    After attempting to upload an image Error will read:
    Unable to create directory /home/vhosts/[URL]/public_html/wp-content/2009/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
    Details:
    WP: 2.7
    Media image files not uploading. I have tried changing file permissions to /wp-content/ but nothing seems to work.

    This is what I do when I get this error:
    go to: https://[URL]/wp-admin/
    login: LOGIN pass: PASSWORD
    Under ‘Posts’ click Add New
    to the right of ‘Upload/Insert’ click ‘Add an image’
    A popup will show, then click Browser uploader (Flash uploader loads a blank page)
    Browse..
    (pick any image)
    Upload
    Error will read:
    Unable to create directory /home/vhosts/[URL]/public_html/wp-content/2009/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    I am not sure why. I have tried reuploading wordpress and changing file permissions. the file permissions seem to be the problem but whatever I do it still will not work.

    I have been working all day to try and make this work but it still doesn’t want to.
    If you can help then I might be able to sleep tonight, thanks.
