images not showing up in post preview?

Hi,

Ive spent the last couple of hours trawling this and other forums but cant seem to find the answer im after. If there is already a forum answer please send me in the right direction.

Im not able to get images from a post to show up on post preview on the main page. Idealy id like to have the text (which does show up) and a couple of photos from the post then add the <!–more–> tag. I cant seem to get images to show up at all unless you open the post. Im sure there is something simple im missing but i just cant work it out.
