    Hi,

I’ve got a blog running WP 4.9.8 and it stopped working suddenly: I can’t login and it doesn’t even print “Wrong password” or anything like that when I submit my credentials, it just puts me back on the login page, as if there was no cookies… I can’t reset my password too, same problem.
Also, all my images appears broken, although they are still present in /wp-content/uploads/. I’ve set WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG but all I can see are a few errors from my outdated theme. I changed it for a new one (from the database) but it doesn’t fix my issues…

Any idea about what is happening? Thanks!

  • Hello, GilDev, & welcome. Could you perchance please provide a site url?

Could you also please try renaming the plugins folder, ie, plugins1, & see if that helps? If so, then please rename the plugins folder back to plugins, but please then go inside that folder & rename each plugin folder w/a 1 or similar on the end of the folder name. The folder you leave as it was originally named should start out being a core plugin, ie, Jetpack, Akismet, etc. Rename the plugin folders back to their original names 1 by 1, logging into the site each time, until things break again. At that point, you know what plugin is causing the problem.

Please get back to us w/the requested information, as well as whether the suggestions here were helpful, won’t you?

    Hi, thanks for your answer.

Renaming the plugins folder didn’t change a thing, but I’ve noticed something else: images aren’t loaded because of a “mixed content” error, where images are apparently loaded from http URL when the site is accessed in https.
But I don’t know why it would mess up the login, and I currently can’t find a way to solve that problem.

Here is the website URL: https://mackid.legtux.org

GilDev, did you perchance let your ssl expire? I’m getting the typical insecure connection notice.

Step 1: Turn off WP_DEBUG. Entirely.

Step 2: Fix your SSL certificate. Examine this URL:

    https://mackid.legtux.fr/wp-content/plugins/adsense-plugin/css/adsns.css

Regardless of what plugins you are using, a direct link to a file is a direct link to a file, and this is telling me that your SSL is setup wrong. It says that “This server could not prove that it is mackid.legtux.fr; its security certificate is from legtux.org.”

That’s a configuration error. Your cert is wrong. Fix that at the server, then things should work better.

If you still have problems after fixing the server, then you may have actual WordPress related issues.

Thanks for your answers. The SSL certificate had not expired.
I fixed the problem with the help of my web host: the website’s URL was configured in WordPress with the “.fr” TLD when it should have been “.org”. It seems that the “.fr” one just redirects to the “.org” so it messed up something somewhere…
