• I have recently installed the plugin, and it seems to be doing everything I want it to do with one exception. Even though I set the button to display images, they do not show up in the feed. I’m not sure why this is happening. I might have a setting somewhere that is causing this. I have the setting on the individual posts set to “show featured image in post lists.”

    I would also like to replace the ellipsis at the end of the excerpt with a READ MORE button that also links to the original post. Is this possible?

    I am not an experienced coder, so please use non-technical language in the suggestions.

    Thank you

    Hi Carolyn,

    Hmm, we’ve tested the blog on a local site here using the same blog URL (please check that you are also using https://babyquiltlady.com as the blog URL in the block settings) and all the images are coming up fine!

    Can you please double check that “Show featured images?” block setting is turned on?

    The only other thing I can think of is that you might have a page cache of some sort because I notice that that latest post from that blog on your website is from the 31st December whereas the latest post on the blog is this one from the 7th January https://babyquiltlady.com/the-handmade-baby-shower-gift-dilemma/

    Can you please clear any cache your have setup on your website? (perhaps Speed Optimizer plugin?)

    With regards to adding a setting to replace the ellipsis with a “Read more” button … this is doable but we’re super busy at the moment so it could take a while to schedule the development time in for this option as this is a free plugin that we don’t develop commercially.

    Kind regards,

    Oliver

    Most of the images are fine. I have a max width of 200 px in the setting. However, some of them are very large and the first entry doesn’t show the correct featured image or the excerpt. I cleared the cache, and I don’t understand why some of the posts are fine and others are not.

    Any ideas? Thanks

    I wish I knew what I was doing wrong.

    The plugin results look fine on my staging site, staging23.uniquebabyquiltboutique.com, but totally different on the live site, uniquebabyquiltboutique.com.

    On the live site, there are no images and the ending phrase, “The post xx first appeared on xxx.”

    I checked all the settings, and they are the same.

    I also looked at the source code, and the code for the strange results is very different from what I am seeing. For instance, the post for the Baby Shower Gift Dilemma displays an image that is neither the featured image nor the first image in the post. The code shows a link to something other than the featured image; the image shown is the second one in the post.

    Any ideas? Thanks

    Hello again,

    Have you previously hosted the blog on WordPress.com or used JetPack? The plugin first tries to get the blog feed that way and queries WordPress.com for your blog ID which returns this in the case of https://babyquiltlady.com

    {"ID":222800782,"name":"Quilting With The Baby Quilt Lady"}

    This means that the blog is known to WordPress.com. Then when asking for the blog’s posts, WordPress.com replies with this …

    {"error":"jetpack_verification_failed","message":"The response from the Jetpack site could not be verified."}

    If the plugin can’t get a response from WordPress.com, it next looks at the site as if it’s a self hosted WordPress blog by looking at the xml provided by https://babyquiltlady.com/feed/

    In this instance, featured images are not provided as such and instead, the plugin looks for the first image URL in the post content. This is why you are seeing strange results for your “featured images” because the plugin is having to guess as to what your featured images are.

    However. Looking at your https://babyquiltlady.com/feed/ XML feed, there actually aren’t any images in any of the posts anymore so something has changed since we last looked at this.

    Oliver
