• Hello ! I have read many other posts on here about issues (over some years) with Media Library and images not showing. So far, nothing I have tried from other posts has helped solve my problem.

    To summarize:
I can upload and it shows in the media library…the only pointer at this stage that something is different is that instead of a thumbnail of the image showing, it is text only.
I can click on [edit image] and have the image appear (in fact this is the ONLY place it does appear) and whether I edit it and save it or not, makes no difference…..when it returns back to the Media Library page, the image still doesn’t show (just text name of image only).

If I try to insert into a page, or upload image when creating a page (or post) it pops up momentarily and then disappears and a broken link appears.

When i go in via ftp images can be seen there….currently they are default at 660 although in my attempts to see if file permission was the problem I have had at 777 to check and it makes no difference. In fact I have checked file permissions on folders up directory – even wp-content at 777 just to see.

In wordpress admin – media settings I have typed in the upload folder url, so that is not an issue (and ticked “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders”).

I have re-installed the latest wp version.

This is really urgent as the website is a client and I need to get her back online. I’d deeply appreciate any assistance!!!

    Thank you SO MUCH!!

    Kindest regards
    Lynne

    Please help if you can!

I don’t know why, but I have managed to figure out that when an image is uploaded it writes it with permissions 660, and if I change manually to 664 then I can use the images.

Is there a file I need to change somewhere so the permission is correctly written?

This is still a very manual task, but at least now I may have some hints about where the problem might be?

    Thank you!
