I have uploaded a new theme to my WordPress. Randomly I started having trouble with it. On the home page, all my posts show up with a blank image (the image of the shoes was me testing something out – ignore that). Everything works except for the home page images. I tried editing the PHP, which is why there is the same picture repeated, but WordPress shows an empty PHP file for the index.php now and will not let me update the file. Every change I make gets erased and the page does not change.

I am brand new to WordPress and it is frustrating. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

  • Hi, is your site localhosted? This looks like a permission issue if you go to Dashboard -> appearance -> editor: Under the text area you usually have update file, can you see that? or do you have a codex reference?
    Regards

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

When I go to the editor an “Update” button is under the file editor. That button works, but the file shows up blank any time I put something in it and update it. It does not affect the live page at all.

I will try the plug in approach.

    Thank you both!

Hi, I’m facing similar problem with my homepage too. (https://perfectcheaptravel.com/).

When I go to appearance, editor, below the text area I can see:

You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.

Is this what you meant by codex reference?
Could this be the problem that my images are not showing?

I’m new with wordpress & really need immediate solution for this.

Thanks in advance for any help
