images not sharp

    My photos on my blog are not as sharp and as crisp as they should be. I have searched in the forum for other threads on this but haven’t found anything that has resolved the issue for me.

    My blog is geoffreyandgrace.com If you look on the homepage or in the post itself they look one quality, and then if you click on the image itself, it is crisper. It is easiest to see on the first photo in the post Little Green – March styling the seasons.

    I do minimal editing of my photos in iPhoto and resize them to upload them to my blog so they are not massive and they don’t take ages to load. I resize them to 700px wide. I have done a screen grab of the image size as it appears on my site and know the photos are actually coming up at the width of 660px, but changing this doesn’t seem to make a difference.

    The photography and pictures I use are very important to my blog so I obviously want them to look as good as they can, and as good as they look in iPhoto.

    Hope that all makes sense. Any help greatly appreciated

  • Hi Melanie,

    I’ve taken a look at your website and honestly the images look crisp in my opinion. What browser are you using? I looked at it on both Chrome and Safari and it looks good to me (as in same quality as the original photo if you click on it). Could you upload a screenshot of what you’re seeing?

    I am using safari. How do I upload a screenshot? I can’t see a way of adding it to the forum post.

    Hmm, yes I see what you are talking about. The text is more fuzzy in the not so good image. When you’re inserting the photos into your blog post, are you inserting the full size or a scaled down one?

    No I don’t insert the full size…

    I’m actually pretty stumped too with this. I understand that you resize your photos, but when you insert the resized photos, do you then insert the Full Size of that photo or do you choose the Medium or Large option?

    That’s the only thing I can think of since I noticed that too when I was working on my blog. When I changed to using the Full Size of my resized photo, my images were crisp again. If that does’t work, then I’m not sure what else to do. ?? Sorry if I couldn’t be of much help.

    I know your image quality means a lot and I don’t want to say that they look just fine the way they are, but they are still good. ?? I hope you find a solution though!

    Someone else has suggested that it is something I have running on my blog , like a plug in, as the uploaded image seems to be ok in WP. I tried removing my Pin it button plug in, but that didn’t make a difference. Might try deinstalling some others too to see if that works. Thanks again for your help yesterday ??

    In the end I think it was just the browser I was using on this computer ‘Safari’… as everywhere else they seem to look fine. Best of luck. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
