The free version optimized 4285 images out of a total of 16972 so about 25%, but none appear to have been scaled, ie pixel resized, despite max width and height being set in the Advanced tab. Obviously this is a huge number of images, so is it too much to expect to perform pixel resizing during a batch optimization, or do we need the premium version, or do we need to instead use the Imsanity plugin?

Did you check the box that says “resize existing images” on the advanced tab? That’s the key to making the bulk optimizer obey the max width/height.

“Allow resizing of existing Media Library images” under the Resize tab is checked. However the images that were optimized were in an external folder that I specified under the Advanced tab in the “Folders to Optimize” box.

There’s another checkbox right under that for “Resize Other Images” that is needed to allow scaling of images in the Folders to Optimize box.

No I don’t see a “Resize Other Images” checkbox in EWWW version 4.7 under the Settings Resize tab. Screenshot

That’s a very, very old version of EWWW IO (from early 2019), and apparently before that option existed. You’ll want to update to the latest version to resize images outside the media library.

Follow-up question (because you’ve got me very curious now): how in the world did you get version 4.7 on that site?

I see. I don’t know how it was acquired, another developer installed it.

    Thank you for your help.
