I’ve been trying to fix this for days. All searches bring back everything but what the problem is. Since updating to 4.5.3, all images on the backend and the frontend of the blog are not loading. They appear in the uploads folder on my server, but they aren’t appearing anywhere else. When I click on an image link, it takes me to an error page. Some of the images seem to load but not all of them. I’ve tried reverting back to an older version of WordPress and then reinstalling the update, but nothing seems to fix it. Here are some screenshots showing the issue from the backend side of things.

The front page of my blog is supposed to have a header image. The posts are supposed to have picture thumbnails.

Example post that is messed up: https://lizzysgrandadventure.x10.mx/kona-beach-and-surfing/

All images in this post are links but when you go to the link, it doesn’t show anything but an link, which when clicked returns an error message: https://lizzysgrandadventure.x10.mx/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Snapshot_002-1.jpg

I’m not sure why this is happening. Everything was fine until the update. The server did do some security upgrades recently where I had to adjust the permissions on the images, but it seemed to work after I reset the perms on the images. It’s only been messed up since the update to 4.5.3. Reverting back again to a prior installation will prove difficult as WordPress decided it needed to upgrade my site automatically, but I tried it anyway with no luck. Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

  • I am experiencing the same problem since updating to 4.5.3 I can see the files in the uploads folder on my server but, none of the images/media files on the front end our being displayed instead they have been replaced by the image Text and the photo icon (see homepage https://www.seedmentors.co.uk) In the backend its the same story I can see that all of the media files are there but the pictures do not show.

I am using the theme ER-Leaf which is fully up to date along with all of the plugins installed on the site and I have tried disabling all of the plugins but it doesn’t make a difference. So any solution to this would be greatly appreciated.

@tom0o0: This is not your topic. If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

@lizzy Gracemount: Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

@esmi I ended up backing up all my files and posts, deleting all files from my server and reinstalling WordPress completely. Whatever was missing from the upgrade apparently was fixed when I reinstalled it and the database. I had to reupload all images since it wouldn’t pick up any of them on the server, but now they are showing up…and it seemed to fix the HTTP error too.

All @tom0o0 was saying is he is having the same issue and would appreciate seeing what response I get. That is not taking over a topic. If you don’t want people to respond to topics, then make it so that only the original poster can respond to moderators. Simple as that…

@tom0o0 Try doing what I did and reinstalling the whole system. It’s a PITA, but it fixed it for me.

Hi Lizzy, I just want to let you know why we emphasise people to create their own threads. There’s a few reasons actually, but I’ll outline a couple important ones.

We have a way of tracking threads that don’t have replies. This lets volunteers prioritise those threads for support. When a thread has replies, the thread is no longer tracked. This isn’t such an issue when a volunteer replies, as you are being helped. It’s a bigger issue when someone else posts for support on your thread. This will dramatically decrease your chance of receiving support.

The other point is to focus support on the person who created the thread. It’s fine to acknowledge someone else has the same problem, but it doesn’t help you or the volunteer that is trying to provide support to you (you as the original poster). The problem is more likely to be resolved if a volunteer focuses on the original problem and probes the original poster for more information.

    Hi
I am facing same issue on my website . After loading page in frontend any page or posts sometimes image will load and sometime image will not loaded . I have tried disabling plugins specially cache and speed optimize plugins but still getting same error. Please help me getting out of this problem as soon as possible.

    Thanks
