images not fitting and all different size

  • OK, I’ve tried resizing my images, setting my image settings in my dashboard, different plugins you suggested in other posts and still my images are not good on my blog feed. They are always the wrong size, out of frame and sometimes a different size than the one they are next to which makes my blog looks bad. I have no idea what else to do but I hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Emily,

    Thanks for reaching out about this issue. It looks like some of your uploaded images were too narrow to be cropped down to the correct size for the thumbnails, which is why the thumbnails are ending up different sizes.

    Here’s some info on the image sizes that may be helpful, but basically, if you make sure that your featured images are at least 760px wide and at least 400px in height, you should be good to go.

    Hi and thanks for the replay. On my home page, here are the dimensions of the featured images for some of the posts:
    baked chile Rellenos?931 by 699 pixels
    instant pot strawberry cheesecake?800 by 600 pixels
    crispy baked chicken wings?800 by 708 pixels
    gon elderflower cocktail?600 by 800 pixels

    So, as you can see, I am meeting the required minimum. Is there something else I can try?

    Thanks Emily, specific examples like that are super helpful…I really appreciate you taking the time to include those.

    The first three you mention there are large enough, and those three are showing up correctly on the home page. The fourth one there (“Gin Elderflower Cocktail”), as well as the “Traffic Secrets” one, are the only two that aren’t cropped correctly, and both of those were only 600px wide. If you’re able to re-upload higher resolution copies of those two featured images, you should be all set.

    Thanks again for getting back to me, I think I had my measurements backward ??

    Can you tell me how to change the overall size of the thumbnails so that I can fit more of my image? Or, is there a way to make it so that the entire image shows in that size thumbnail?

    Unfortunately it’s not feasible to show the entire image consistently…since uploaded images won’t all be the same size, the layout ends up all over the place if the thumbnails aren’t cropped uniformly. Hopefully the link above will be what you’re looking for, though!
